About Tom

Tom Tribone has proved himself an early advocate of de-centralized decision-making within business organizations. When he was appointed the youngest general manager of Atlantic Richfield company in the 1970's, Tribone demonstrated that modern management thinking could be applied even in highly unionized environments, where labor and management conflicts were taken for granted. Thomas Tribone's core idea was that people who were closest to a given activity knew best how to perform it, and that light-handed executive guidance (combined with a team approach) would allow the greatest number of workers to approach the highest level of satisfaction and achievement (what Maslow called self-actualization). Tom Tribone's ideas have been explored and discussed by one of the most important business authors of all time, Mr. Robert Waterman, in his book "What America Does Right."
